This course aims to introduce students to the practice and theory of eight of the most influential yet practical theatre directors who shaped the theatre of the last century. Students will also learn the basic crafts of directing through some directing exercises. 這是一門引領學生認識廿世紀以來西方劇場導演風格與工作內容的課程；除了簡介如Stanislavsky, Brecht, Artaud, Meyerhold, Robert Wilson等八位引領風潮的導演外，學生也將針對臺灣幾位導演及其作品與導戲手法和風格進行探討，從中思考與觀察導演創作和技藝的多重面相與內涵。
